Childhood poetry
"Before Definition" by Helen Losse reminded me a lot of "how i used to spend my summers". Since I've recently been feeling nostalgic for childhood's simpler times, I really responded to this poem. Also, I love the universal imagery in this poem--for childhood has many images that transport anyone raised in this culture (and many other cultures) back to that sweet childhood moment while simultaneously reminding us that we are children no longer.

That is kind of crazy. It's a small world.
Thanks for responding. I enjoy poets' comments on my analysis/description of their work. Poets sometimes can be too internal and I really want to stay away from that. One good way I've found to avoid staying in my own poety universe is looking at other poetry blogs. I guess I just like to thank poets that write on blogs because as a poet writing on a blog I'm surprised and please when strangers read (and ideally like) my work.
